According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC) in the USA, 47 people across 12 different states have been infected with Salmonella, originating from yellow Maradol papayas imported from Mexico.

Between the 17th May and the 28th June, 12 of the infected were taken to hospitals, with one dying in New York. The CDC is investigating the case in order to find the source of contamination and have issued a warning to the public, advising against eating Papayes imported from Mexico until further notice.
