UK's leading supermarket sold pork products that may have caused hepatitis to consumers
One of the UK's leading supermarket's imported pork products may have been infected with hepatitis E, a viral infection which can cause liver damage and death.
After a number of recorded hepatitis cases in the UK, an investigation was performed to find the source of the virus.
According to Public Health England (PHE), test results have shown that the virus is strongly linked to one of the British leading supermarket's own brand pork products. The affected pork was found to be imported from Germany and Holland.
