SWAB MOB: PUBS

Watchdog’s “Swab Mob" found faecal bacteria in ice and soda water at leading pub chains Two For One, Harvester, JD Wetherspoon, Slug & Lettuce and Hungry Horse. While results varied, at all five chains, levels of bacteria deemed by the lab to be ‘too many to count’ were found. Though the results do not necessarily represent an immediate risk to public health, Tony Lewis, Head of Policy at the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, said that while the results are “a concern” and urged pubs to improve hygiene practices.
