Schoolboy with Sepsis dies after losing both legs
Ethan Hunt, 16 died on Monday night after a month-long battle with Sepsis, which lead to the amputation of both of his legs. Doctors at Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester put the teenage cyclist into an induced coma in order to treat his sepsis.
Sepsis (blood poisoning), whilst not thought to be contagious, is caused by a bacterial infection which enters the circulatory system. Sepsis is fatal in between 15-60% of cases, with the higher percentile belonging to severe cases, which lead to organ failure.
