BUPA has been fined £3 million after a grandfather contracted legionnaires from his 'stagnant' care home bathroom. BUPA runs more than 130 care homes in the UK and has admitted a serious hygiene breach which led to the death of Kenneth Ibbetson, 86.

It was later discovered that levels of Legionella bacteria at the care home were more than 10 times the safe limit.
