Researchers at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln have developed a bandage which can detect potential infections and treat them automatically. The bandage works by monitoring the pH levels of chronic wounds, which can indicate the presence of infections. Sensors in the bandage trigger the release of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medications from a Hydrogel pad inside the bandage.
